Central California Band Review Update – Saturday November 12
The SRVHS Jazz Program and Marching Wolves participated in the Central California Band and Jazz Competition on Saturday in Merced.
(It was kind of entertaining to see all of these musicians at 5:45 AM dressed in concert clothes!)
Our competition times were spread out over 5 hours: It was great to have the marching program cheering for the jazz program and the jazz program cheering for the marching program in the competition!
Our Jazz groups compete by high school enrollment; In order to avoid having our Intermediate Jazz Band competition against our Advance Jazz Ensemble, they bumped the advance group up a division – where they competed against schools with a significantly higher enrollment.
Our Program is pleased to announce the following:
- Jazz Band won a 3rd place award.
- Ethan Pires (9th grade, Trumpet) received an Outstanding Musician Award!
- Jazz Ensemble won a 2nd place award.
- Corinne Smith (11th grade, Alto Sax) received an Outstanding Musician Award!
- Our Marching Wolves won a 2nd place award.
- Our Drum Major, Eric Michaud, won a 3rd place Military Drum Major Award!
